Lampasas County is the gateway to the beautiful Texas Hill Country at the crossroads of U.S. highways 281, 190 and 183.
Visitors are invited to take in our beautiful historic buildings around the courthouse square dating back to the late 1800s with shopping and dining available. Our courthouse is the third-oldest still-functioning courthouse in Texas. Our guests will enjoy the Seth-Thomas clock which strikes every hour.
The Keystone Square Museum displays a variety of interesting exhibits; a historic driving tour brochure of Victorian homes known as Silk Stocking Row along 3rd and 4th streets is also available.
Historic Hancock Park includes one of the few spring-fed, free-flow pools in Texas at 72 degrees year-round. The park provides a beautiful place for relaxation, picnics and a cool swim. Golfers can enjoy the 18-hole course set among sprawling trees along Sulphur Creek.
Lampasas has great white-tail deer hunting in the area, and Colorado Bend State Park provides wonderful hiking, fishing and camping on the picturesque Colorado River. Visitors can tour vineyards and wineries in the area, as well.
Wonderful dining and lodging are available to meet your needs. Dine at well-known Storm’s hamburgers and the Yumm Factory on Hwy 183, Eve’s on the square, and other great places.
Lampasas County hosts many events to enjoy, such as the Spring Ho Festival on the second weekend in July with the toughest 10K in Texas and a barbeque cook-off, and the Lometa Diamond Back Jubilee on the last Saturday in March, to name just a few!
