Hundreds turned out to wish Jones County a Happy 125th Anniversary in a mid-summer celebration that featured historical exhibits including an extraordinary quilt dating back to the mid-1800s and a display of antique tractors.
Following a special ceremony at Fort Phantom Hill, participants proceeded to the courthouse lawn where Jones County Judge Dale Spurgin narrated the county history. Guests then toured special anniversary displays at the Jones County Courthouse, Anson Jones Museum, Anson Library, Anson Chamber of Commerce and the Opera House. A barbecue and musical completed the day-long celebration.
