Texas County Progress

The Official Publication of the County Judges and Commissioners Association of Texas

New Officer Eager to Serve Region, Home County

August 30, 2007 by Sarah L

Before serving Nacogdoches County as a commissioner, I was a fireman for the city of Nacogdoches, retiring after 22 years of service. I served on the Nacogdoches County Chamber of Commerce Board, the United Way Board, the Small Development Council, and numerous other boards which gave me the opportunity to meet with a diverse group of people throughout the county.
I am currently serving as second vice president of the North & East Texas County Judges and Commissioners Association. I also serve on the V. G. Young Institute of County Government Education Committee and the Deep East Texas Council of Governments Nominating Committee. I am also overseeing the renovation of the Nacogdoches County Courthouse, and I serve on many other committees.
When I was elected to the office of Nacogdoches County Precinct 2 commissioner, I knew I wanted to do all that I could for the citizens of our county. I was born in San Augustine County, and I moved to Nacogdoches County in 1979. I truly love Nacogdoches and helping the citizens of the county with the needs that they have. We have hard-working people in our county who shouldn’t have to worry about the roads and bridges they travel on a daily basis. They deserve the lowest tax rate that we can give them, while still keeping our county running as smoothly and efficiently as possible. I will do all I can to see that they receive all of the services that are due them.
Another thing I would like to see happen during my term in office is to ensure that the employees of Nacogdoches County get the salaries and benefits that they deserve. Most people don’t realize how much these employees do
