Experience Haskell, located at the crossroads of Highways 380 and 277. Park at Haskell’s free overnight campground with full hook-ups and pull-through sites.
Imagine life on the prairie while visiting the city’s oldest frame home, built in 1883 and recently renovated with historical accuracy, landscaped with native grasses and plants, and accented with antique farm equipment. Sight native birds while strolling on the paved walking path that meanders along the cool creek waters flowing from Rice Springs through the city park.
Shoot a round of golf at the country club’s nine-hole course, or shoot a deer, wild hog or Canadian goose on one of the many guided hunts available. Catch a bass, crappie or catfish at nearby Lake Stamford or Miller Creek Reservoir. Cheer for your favorite cowboy at Wild Horse Prairie Days Ranch Rodeo held the first weekend in June. Devour authentic chuck wagon barbeque, visit vendor booths, or join a trail ride, just a few of the events held in conjunction with Prairie Days.
Circle the courthouse between Thanksgiving and Christmas to see an enormous, eclectic collection of Christmas decorations. Spend the night at one of three bed and breakfasts or one of the two motels. Eat at locally owned restaurants that pride themselves on serving homemade cooking with a friendly smile and a “Welcome to Haskell” along with “Where you folks from?” Plan to return for the annual car show in March, antique tractor show in April and quilt show in the fall.
