Nextlink Internet is one of the fastest growing rural internet service providers in the U.S. Since the company’s founding in 2012, Nextlink provides internet service to approximately 90,000 customers across seven states, has over 1,000 employees in over 40 field offices, and proudly carries a 4.8 Star Rating on Google from over 10,000 customer reviews!

RDOF FUNDING

Nextlink is slated to bring gigabit fiber and wireless internet to underserved rural communities across 11 states in the Midwest with over $429,000,000 awarded by the FCC through the Rural Digital Opportunity Fund (RDOF). With a deeper presence in its home state of Texas and significant licensed spectrum holdings to support gigabit wireless plus fiber projects, Nextlink Co-Founder and CEO, Bill Baker, believes the company is, “well-positioned to move quickly to connect the unconnected.”

MICROSOFT PARTNER

To improve internet adoption and reduce disparities across rural covered populations, Nextlink is actively partnering with diverse stakeholders like the Microsoft Airband Initiative to support customer access to technical expertise, preferential pricing on innovative technological solutions, as well as digital skills training. According to Microsoft Airband Initiative General Manager, Vickie S. Robinson, “By Microsoft’s estimates, Nextlink has provided broadband coverage to more than 2.46 million people across seven states; of which more than 302,000 were previously unserved and are now addressable.” Mission aligned partnerships like this one support the company’s efforts to provide affordable, quality broadband access to communities in need.

SUCCESS IN TEXAS

Success in the Lone Star State is a specific source of pride for this rural ISP. As a case in point, in a final $1.3 million agreement with Wise County, Texas, Nextlink will deploy broadband at data speeds ranging from 100 Mbps to 500 Mbps to 95% of households in the county — which is upwards of 65,000 people. Nextlink will also provide gigabit fiber-based internet service for 18 of 20 county offices and gigabit fixed wireless service for the other two county offices.

The Honorable J.D. Clark, Wise County Judge, said, “This investment will give some of our most rural residents next-generation broadband connectivity. Internet access is a must-have in the 21st century and we’re proud to partner with Nextlink to get this done quickly and cost-effectively.”

Bill Baker, Founder and CEO of Nextlink Internet, said, “Today’s agreement will help bridge the digital divide in Wise County and provide rural families with reliable and fast broadband connectivity.
Nextlink is proud to consistently deliver high-speed internet access in underserved areas in Texas and across America.”

As the project nears completion, Nextlink will also open a permanent field office in Wise County, which will employ fifteen full-time individuals to better facilitate this service. “Nextlink is fully committed to Wise County and helping achieve its goal of expanding broadband access. We look forward to operating here for many years to come,” Baker continued. A variety of data plans will be made available, including a plan under the FCC’s Affordable Connectivity Program, which will allow qualifying residents to receive free 25 Mbps service.

BOOT FUNDING

With varied sources of federal and state funding available for broadband, including The BOOT Program (Bringing Online Opportunities to Texas Program), Nextlink is prioritizing its support for local communities through both public and private partnerships that will help accelerate its commitment to deliver connectivity to areas with minimal infrastructure.

Our goal to be local providers in every community we serve pushes us to provide the best service through memberships with county level associations, chambers of commerce, economic development corporations, partnerships with school districts and charitable contributions.
