Brooks County Commissioner Ernesto “Pepe” Williams, Jr.

January 29, 2024 by Julie Anderson

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 24, 2024

Brooks County Commissioner Ernesto “Pepe” Williams Jr. passed away January 20, 2024, at the age of 73.

First and foremost, Pepe considered himself a Public Servant and not a politician. He faithfully served his community as both a City Council member and Mayor for the City of Falfurrias and lastly as a Brooks County Commissioner for Precinct 4 for the last 6 years. Although he was Commissioner for Precinct 4, he was always willing to help everyone in Brooks County. His commitment to his elected position cannot be questioned. He fought hard for what he believed in, and Brooks County will miss his dedication to service.

Throughout his years of public service, he always remained a humble and unselfish person. One of his main priorities was to the taxpayers in both the City of Falfurrias and Brooks County. He was an advocate for many causes including the Ed Rachal Memorial Library, Falfurrias Volunteer Fire Department, Brooks County Sheriff’s Department and US Border Patrol, he was also a big supporter of all veterans and the VFW post #7634.

Pepe never met a stranger and everybody that knew him loved him dearly. Throughout his tenure, he had many detractors, but his supporters outweighed them by far. Pepe had no interest in political gains or special interests’ groups, his interests were solely for all the citizens of this community.

Ernesto “Pepe” Williams, Jr. will be missed, and he leaves behind a legacy that will carry on for generations to come.
