David Erwin Hall, 54, passed away peacefully at home on Sept. 2, 2025. He was born on Jan. 29, 1971, in Austin, Texas, to David Speer and Delores Richter Hall. David graduated from Wharton High School in 1990 and the University of Phoenix with a Bachelor’s Degree in Integrated Technology in 1997. He married his beloved wife, soul mate, and best friend, Amanda, on Dec. 31, 2022.
David devoted his life to serving others. He relocated to Calhoun County 26 years ago and proudly completed a 25-year career in law enforcement with the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office. For the past eight and a half years, he continued his service to the community as Calhoun County Commissioner for Precinct 1. David’s tenure as Commissioner will have a lasting impact on the county he loved. Selfless and dedicated, he led with integrity, loyalty, and a deep desire to see his community flourish. The many projects and improvements he championed will stand as a testament to his hard work and vision for years to come.
David’s love for Calhoun County went beyond his career. A loyal supporter of the Calhoun Sandcrabs and Sandies, he could always be found in the stands – home or away – cheering them on with his wife. He loved the water and spent 20 years as a fishing guide before settling into “beach life” with his family as proud residents of Magnolia Beach. He was also a devoted supporter of the Magnolia Beach Volunteer Fire Department and Calhoun County Little League.
A man of faith, David was a member of First English Lutheran Church in Victoria. He was also a Master Mason and member of Port Lavaca Masonic Lodge #36. David was a member of both the Sons of the American Revolution and the Sons of the Texas Revolution. True to his adventurous spirit, David was a Jeep enthusiast who embraced the joy and camaraderie of being a Jeep owner.
David will be remembered for his infectious smile and contagious laugh that could fill a room. He never met a stranger and made friends everywhere he went. His love for hosting gatherings, barbecuing, trying out new recipes, and sharing laughter with others reflected his generous spirit. Above all, David was a devoted husband, father, and son. His world revolved around his family, and he loved deeply and unconditionally. He brought out the best in those around him, leaving a legacy of kindness, service, and love.
David is survived by his parents, David Speer and Delores Richter Hall; brother Hank Hall (Gayle); loving wife Amanda; children Tristian Hall, Colt Massey (Ashley), Cory Massey, and Caytln Massey; in-laws Morris Passmore (Bernie); and brothers-in-law Jason Passmore (Misty) and John Passmore. He also leaves behind his beloved fur babies, Daisy and Grayson, as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and numerous friends and coworkers who will cherish his memory.
David’s life was a gift to his family, friends, and community, and his memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. – https://bit.ly/comm-david-hall
