Words of Wisdom

Words of Wisdom with Cass County Judge Becky Wilbanks

January 1, 2022 by Sarah L

When did you take office?  I took office as County Judge for Cass County on Jan. 1, 2015. Prior to becoming County Judge, I served as District Clerk for seven terms beginning Jan. 1, 1987.  As “they” say, hindsight is 20/20. As you look back on your years of service, what are some of the most valuable lessons you learned? Looking back at my nine terms in elected … [Read more...] about Words of Wisdom with Cass County Judge Becky Wilbanks

December 27, 2021 by Sarah L

Lessons learned:       I had over 40 years of business experience when I took office, and it was like starting over with all of the governmental do’s and don’ts. As an elected official, everything you say and do in Commissioners Court is a public record, and everything you do in your daily duties is subject to governmental regulations. Take it before the Commissioners Court and discuss the issue.       … [Read more...] about Words of Wisdom from Fannin County Commissioner Jerry Magness

Words of Wisdom from Tarrant County Judge Glen Whitley

As “they” say, hindsight is 20/20. As you look back on your years of service, what are some of the most valuable lessons you learned?        As President Harry Truman said, “It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.” A focus on results and outcomes is always more productive than getting caught up in who is getting the credit or getting … [Read more...] about Words of Wisdom from Tarrant County Judge Glen Whitley

Many of you, our wise and learned County Judges and County Commissioners, will be retiring at the end of 2022. For years, and in some cases decades, you have found ways to lend a helping hand. You have mentored new officials, shared valuable lessons during educational conferences, and served as subject matter experts for us here at County Progress. We thank you for your time and your friendship. Before you go, we would like to call on you one last time to share your Words of Wisdom.

Eastland County | Judge Rex Fields Took office Jan. 1, 2007   As “they” say, hindsight is 20/20. As you look back on your years of service, what are some of the most valuable lessons you learned? Figure out a way to work with the other elected and appointed county officials. You may not get along so well on a personal level, but the public expects you to do your … [Read more...] about Valuable Lessons Learned
