It’s been said that the best Association title to hold is the title of past president. My journey through the leadership process of this fine organization began three years ago when the membership elected me second vice president. Since then the responsibilities of office have progressively increased until they reached their final development in my service this year as your president.
Before I pass the reins of leadership over to First Vice President Lee County Judge Evan Gonzales, I’d like to thank him, Second Vice President McLennan County Commissioner Ray Meadows, and Immediate Past President Trinity County Judge Mark Evans for their support and encouragement this year. I’d also like to thank all the fellow commissioners, judges and other county elected officials who have provided their input, advice and expertise.
I’d also like to add to my “thanks list” all the vendors, sponsors, presenters and committee members who made the Annual Conference in Fort Worth such a success. I hope you had a great time and learned a lot of interesting and useful information. I’m glad I had the opportunity to meet old friends at the conference and make some new ones. Specifically deserving of recognition are Rick Avery and his staff, Karen Norris at the Texas Association of Counties and the TAC staff, and the staff of County Progress
