June 13, 2024 by Julie Anderson

Sherri (Bessire) Harrison, age 57, of Muleshoe, Texas, died Wednesday, May 8, 2024, in Littlefield, Texas. She was born June 13, 1966, in Clovis, New Mexico to Travis and Sue (Willman) Bessire.

Sherri served as the Bailey County Clerk, and then was elected as the Bailey County Judge, serving for many years. She loved having the honor of performing several weddings. She served as the President of the Texas Judges Association. Sherri was a huge supporter of Muleshoe Meals on Wheels. She was a member of Muleshoe Methodist Church.

Sherri is survived by her son, Conner Harrison of Muleshoe, Texas; her daughter, Shelbi Harrison and her husband, Jacob Crittenden of Fort Worth, Texas; her parents, Travis and Sue Bessire; her brother, Todd Bessire and his wife, Cindy of Muleshoe, Texas; her two grandchildren, Aubrey Crittenden and Adalyn Crittenden; and her long time friend, Butch Green.

The following press release was issued when Judge Harrison first joined the leadership team of the West Texas County Judges and Commissioners Association:

Regional Association Elects Judge Harrison to Leadership Post

Bailey County Judge Sherri Harrison has been elected director of the West Texas County Judges and Commissioners Association, a 118-county subregion of the County Judges and Commissioners Association of Texas (CJCAT).

Some 250 county officials and guests honored Harrison as she took her oath of office at the Association’s annual conference conducted in San Angelo April 22-25, 2014.

The CJCAT is a statewide organization comprised of county judges and county commissioners with more than 1,200 active members. Both the CJCAT and its regional associations promote the interests of county government through continuing education and active participation in governmental affairs, particularly the Texas Legislature.

As a director of the Association, Harrison will keep apprised of legislative proposals and interim studies that will impact county government and the services it provides to the citizen taxpayers. She will also assist in the planning of the West Texas Association annual educational conference. https://www.ellisfuneralhomes.com/memorials/sherri-harrison/5428966/
