I hope everyone is having an enjoyable summer and you have already been on a vacation or have your plans made. Hopefully passport delays will not affect any out-of-country plans you may have.
The 80th Regular Session of the Texas Legislature is finally over, and we now have the opportunity to look back and see how we did. All in all, you have to say that counties came out pretty good. While the session started off with an unfunded mandate, the May 12th Constitutional Amendment Election, we were able late in the session to get some funding for the cost of that election. Through the efforts of everyone we were able to fight off any other unfunded mandates and continued efforts to impose revenue and appraisal caps.
While we seemed to spend most of our efforts playing defense, we were able to get some good bills passed that hopefully the governor signed
