Veteran Services Officer Making a Lasting Impact
Tomika Nowlin, a retired Air Force non-commissioned officer, takes care of more than 8,500 Bastrop County veterans ranging from World War II through all recent and ongoing conflicts and wars. She was so successful in her first year that the Judge and Commissioners have received letters of appreciation from the deputies at the federal penitentiary and the county sheriff’s office from the veterans that now serve our community at both those organizations!
It has also become a frequent event to receive emails from our veterans or their family members thanking Ms. Nowlin for her cheerful and expert help in obtaining their benefits.
The Commissioners Court recently thanked Ms. Nowlin and presented her with this flag, handmade by Constable Wayne Wood. – Submitted by Bastrop County Commissioner Melvin “Mel” Hamner
