Hockley County Veterans Committee Presents Honor Fight Funds

August 21, 2018 by County Progress

Proceeds from the 2017 Veterans Day Breakfast were presented at the 2018 Texas South Plains Honor Flight Telethon in early July. The Texas South Plains Honor Flight is a chapter of the Honor Flight Network with 131 hubs in 41 states. The organizational goal is to send as many veterans as possible to Washington,
D.C., to pay homage to their fellow brothers and sister in arms by visiting the war and service memorials built in their honor. The Hockley County Veterans Breakfast raised $3,200, enough money to send two Hockley County veterans on the honor flight, to take place Oct. 13-15. Pictured from left: Tania Moody, KLVT Radio; Sharla Baldridge, Hockley County Judge; Rebecca Currington, Hockley County veterans assistant; and Karin McCay, Lubbock KCBD news anchor. Congratulations to the Hockley County Veterans Committee on their successful fundraiser, and thank you to these Hockley County veterans for their service.
