“In a commitment to enhancing public safety and ensuring rapid and effective communication during emergencies, Kendall County is proud to announce the launch of the Wireless Emergency Notification System (WENS).” – Kendall County Sheriff’s Office
“I am very excited about this system,” shared Commissioner Christina Bergmann. “The registration process is very simple, and one can choose from an extensive list of what they want to be alerted about. One of the best features, in my opinion, is we can geofence an area.”
Geofencing means creating a virtual geographic boundary. For example, during a flooding event, the alert system allows for geofencing the area predicted to be affected, and an alert can be sent to all cell phones in the area.
“This could literally be a lifesaving alert,” emphasized Bergmann.
The service is free of charge to county residents.
