Commissioners Court Members: The Regular Session enters its final weekend with several important issues remaining, including property tax relief and school vouchers. While the deadline for consideration of individual bills has passed, conference committees continue to meet to resolve differences in the House and Senate versions. Additionally, the House of Representatives is considering Articles of Impeachment against Attorney General Paxton.
As indicated in the Alert (see link below), most county legislation has been resolved. The remaining bills are either dead, awaiting a conference committee report, or awaiting action by the Governor. We will issue a final report next week to recommend communication with the Governor on select bills.
While our successes were limited (especially in the Senate), we avoided the passage of most negative legislation. Thanks for your support, Jim Allison and Rick Thompson.
