The Tobacco Settlement Permanent Trust Account Investment Advisory Committee approved $50 million for the year 2013 tobacco settlement distribution, the same as the previous year’s amount. The Delta County Courthouse was built in 1940 in a Moderne style as designed by Hoke Smith. Initial county business was conducted in a one-room box house until a two-story, frame county capitol was erected in 1881 on the square.
