Tyler County Commissioner Charles Irving Hudson, aka “Buck,” was born on Oct. 28, 1963, to Pauline Susan “Sue” Hudson and Charles Alva Hudson. He passed away peacefully at his residence surrounded by family and friends on May 14, 2026, after a 14-year battle with cancer.
Buck attended Spurger High School, where he graduated valedictorian of his class. He continued his education at Stephen F. Austin State University, where he obtained his Master of Science in Agriculture Education with an emphasis in forestry and horticulture. Buck was an agriculture educator for 30 years in the districts of Silsbee and Woodville. The majority of his career was spent at Spurger ISD, where he was the Junior class sponsor and a legend.
After retiring from education, Buck became a politician, a role that suited him well. Buck served as Tyler County Commissioner Precinct 4 for two terms. He was also reelected to a third term. Buck was a tremendous volunteer. He was the parade director for the Tyler County Dogwood Festival and then later became the executive director for the festival. His service to the Tyler County Dogwood Festival encompassed 25 years; he was also a member of the permanent board of directors. Buck was a member of the Tyler County Fair Board for over 20 years.
Most of all, Buck was a dedicated member of the First Pentecostal Church of Silsbee, where he was the song leader for many years. Each year, he opened his home to the entire church for the famous Hudson Bash.
Buck loved people and his family. He was always delivering food to the elderly and doing things for the less fortunate. He was a true Christian and will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Hudson, and his grandparents. Buck is survived by his loving wife, Donna Hudson; daughters Brianna Hudson Sumner and husband Samuel, and Savannah Hudson; mother Sue Hudson; sister Paula Burton and husband Ricky; niece Cristin Ellison and husband Caleb; nephew Ryan Burton and wife Hannah; grandchildren Adam Sumner and Caroline Sumner; great nieces Joanie and Millie; and great nephew Case. – https://bit.ly/comm-hudson
