Brazoria County has something for everyone. Not only are we a coastal county with 23 miles of sandy beaches, but we are full of rich Texas history. After all, Brazoria County was the first capital of the Republic of Texas, as explained in the Brazoria County Historical Museum.
Did you know that Brazoria County has plenty of agriculture, from rice farming to cattle production, and one of the biggest county fairs in the State of Texas? Come visit our county fair in October and see for yourself.
Local festivals are not hard to find in Brazoria County, as we play host to the Mosquito Festal in Clute, Alvin’s Hometown Festival, and the No Name Festival in Brazoria, just to name a few.
For those who enjoy the outdoors, you will find flowing coastal plains, lush green forests, inshore and offshore fishing, bird watching, shelling and wildlife preserves.
Brazoria County also offers the best county parks in the State of Texas, some of which include cabin rentals and RV parks right on the beach. Rent a cabin or bring your RV, rest and relax while you bird watch, and enjoy a beautiful sunset over the Gulf of Mexico.
We can’t forget about the avid shopper! Whether you frequent our new shopping centers in the Pearland area, or our antique shops nestled in many of the small, quaint communities throughout the county, you are sure to find a treasure.
Whatever your pleasure, be it fishing, camping, playing on the beach, shopping or just relaxing, you will find it here in Brazoria County. Come visit us…you might not want to go home! – County Judge Joe King
