Visit Floyd County, and you will find not only entertainment, but a relaxing and peaceful way of life. For all the golf enthusiasts, we have Floydada Country Club nestled in our beautiful canyon southwest of town. Historians, we invite you to visit Floyd County Historical Museum for an informative tour and update on Coronado’s dig, plus other interesting artifacts.
Lockney and Floydada both offer parks where you can picnic and let the children run and play in a safe environment. Located in between Lockney and Floydada in a place called Muncy is our Floyd County Friends Unity Center where all kinds of activities take place.
Floydada is known as Pumpkin Capital USA and has its festival the 2nd Saturday in October. Lockney is known for its Old Fashioned Saturday, with booths, antique cars, and an old fashioned street dance.
Before you leave our quaint county, you must take the scenic route through The Texas Plains Trail, where you can ride horseback, take a bicycle trip, or maybe even hike. Dropping off the Plains into Caprock Canyon is amazing. Then you can mosey down to Plains Baptist Assembly where many church and civic activities take place, located not far from the Floydada Country Club.
Once you visit Floyd County and meet all of our wonderful folks, we know you will want to return; if you do not believe us, ask former Floyd County citizen Lance Barrow, a nine-time Emmy Award winner and coordinating producer of CBS Sports.
