Why Stop In San Patricio County???

November 1, 2010 by admin

What’s the best thing about San Patricio County…everything under the sun! Whether you are a history, birding, fishing, hiking, kayaking, boating, skateboarding, shopping or golfing enthusiast – or just plain looking for a place to relax and have fun in the sun – you can find it in San Patricio County.

Welder Wildlife Refuge and Museum, just off Hwy 77 by Sinton, is one of many birding and nature areas in the county. Take public, private or group tours where you can witness Texas wildlife and birds in their natural habitats; view artwork by South Texas artists and learn about ecological/educational programs provided by the foundation.

Sinton, with several down-home cookin’ family restaurants, boasts a brand new Fairground and Arena, a variety of antique and collectible stores, historical landmarks including the 1927 county courthouse, and an 18-hole golf course.

Birding, boating, kayaking, canoeing, camping/RV, swimming, fishing, and great food are plentiful all around San Patricio in Aransas Pass, Ingleside, Mathis, Odem, Portland, and Sinton; just contact any of these chamber of commerce websites for details.

For family fun, we’ve got you covered there, too. In Taft, tour “Picklesmith,” a small food manufacturing company featuring Texas-grown produce, or check out a variety of parks and water parks throughout the county where you and your family can enjoy sand volleyball, horseshoes, wind surfing, skateboarding, basketball, hiking and biking. You may also want to try your hand at disc-golf.

If festivals are your thing, we’ve got those too:

v     Windfest (April/Spring) – Portland

v     Shrimporee (June) – Aransas Pass

v     Ingleside’s Round-up Days, TP McCampbell Fly-in, Renaissance Faire (December) and more!

San Patricio County…where everything under the sun and a beautiful sunset are waiting just for you! – County Judge Terry Simpson
