Tyler County is located in the beautiful Piney Woods and rolling hills of Deep East Texas and is known for having the most running streams of any county in Texas. Woodville is the county seat and is located 50 miles north of Beaumont. Tyler County has ideal weather conditions for a long growing season and a springtime climate for most of the year.
Tyler County celebrates its Dogwood Festival the first weekend of every April when dogwoods dot our woods for a scenic drive in every direction. At this time the county becomes pink and white with blooming dogwood and redbud trees. The Dogwood Festival with its parade, craft fair and outdoor historical drama is internationally known, and the population swells during this time.
Visitors to our county come for the many birding trails, stay for the experience of the Big Thicket with its unique beauty of flora not found anywhere else in the world, and dine on fine southern cuisine at the famous Pickett House Restaurant, serving fried chicken, chicken and dumplings, seasonal vegetables and cobbler with sassafras tea.
Welcome to Tyler County! By the way, we will treat you so many ways, that you will like one of them.
