Success Snapshot: Making a Difference

October 1, 2013 by Christi Stark

Commissioners Court members continue to make a positive impact both inside and outside the County Courthouse. Congratulations to the following counties for their recent awards and honors.

Bell County was one of two Texas counties honored by the Center for Digital Government for the quality of its technology services department during the National Association of Counties meeting conducted in July in Fort Worth.

Brazoria County received the 2013 Government Award for Protection of the Environment from Keep Texas Beautiful.  Brazoria was honored for its residential and agricultural used tire recycling project that collected more than 300,000 tires.

Brooks County Commissioners Court and Judge Raul Ramirez received the 2013 County Judges and Commissioners Award from the Texas Extension Association of Family and Consumer Sciences.

Henderson County received the 2013 Gold Leadership Award from the Texas comptroller’s office for online financial transparency.  Auditor Ann Marie Lee was recognized by the Commissioners Court.

Smith County received an achievement award from the National Association of Counties for its role in the tax trust neighborhood revitalization project, which is a collaboration of local taxing entities to transform neighborhoods through the creation of new, affordable housing.
